Levitra Professional
Levitra Professional is a prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It is the brand name of the drug Vardenafil. Levitra Professional is part of a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitors (PDE5 inhibitors). These drugs work by relaxing blood vessels and increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. This increased blood flow can cause an erection. Levitra Professional is available in tablet form and is taken orally. It is available in three strengths: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg. The recommended starting dose for most men is 10 mg. If you are taking certain other medications, your healthcare provider may recommend a lower starting dose. Levitra Professional should be taken approximately one hour before sexual activity. It can be taken with or without food. If you take it with a high-fat meal, it may take a longer time to start working. Once you take it, it can work for up to four hours. You should not take more than one tablet in a 24-hour period. If you have certain medical conditions or are taking certain other medications, your healthcare provider may tell you to take Levitra Professional less often. Some of these conditions include liver disease, kidney disease, and heart disease.
Side Effects
Levitra Professional may cause side effects. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effect that bothers you or does not go away. These are the most common side effects of Levitra Professional:
- Headache
- Flushing
- Stuffy or runny nose
- Upset stomach
- Dizziness
Levitra Professional can cause serious side effects. See your healthcare provider right away if you have any of these serious side effects:
- Priapism (an erection lasting more than four hours that can cause permanent damage to the penis)
- Sudden decrease or loss of vision
- Sudden decrease or loss of hearing
- Ringing in the ears
- Chest pain
- Irregular heartbeat
- Swelling in the hands, ankles, or feet
- Shortness of breath
- Nausea
- Sweating
Levitra Professional can cause a rare but serious side effect called sudden onset hearing loss. This condition can lead to permanent hearing loss if not treated right away. If you experience sudden onset hearing loss, stop taking Levitra Professional and contact your healthcare provider right away.
Warnings and Precautions
Before taking Levitra Professional, tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:
- Have or have had low blood pressure
- Have or have had bleeding problems
- Have or have had stomach ulcers
- Have or have had a heart attack or stroke
- Have or have had heart problems or irregular heartbeat
- Have or have had kidney problems
- Have or have had liver problems
- Have or have had seizures
- Have or have had a history of vision problems
- Have or have had a condition called retinitis pigmentosa
- Have or have had penis problems
- Have ever been advised by a healthcare provider to avoid sexual activity for medical reasons
- Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Levitra Professional can cause birth defects.
- Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. Levitra Professional can pass into your breast milk and may harm your baby.
Levitra Professional may interact with other medications. Tell your healthcare provider about all the medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

If you miss a dose of Levitra Professional

How to store Levitra Professional
Levitra Professional should be stored at room temperature, between 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C). Keep Levitra Professional and all medications out of the reach of children.
